The Boys
GLENN ROBERT THOMPSON
(born October 1958)
Glenn is the drum player and vocalist/guitarist on his own songs "Piece of Shit" and "Music is Crap". Glenn is the newest member of the band and is, strangely enough, the oldest member of the band. Glenn joined in August 1996, just as Custaro headed off on the biggest tour of their lives, the Presidents of the United States, which played to packed houses all throughout Australia. September 1996 saw Glenn heading off to play a world tour with his old friend Robert Forster. While he was away, John Lowry joined Custard to play a few tours. Glenn returned to the drumming spot in December 1996.
MATTHEW ROBERT STRONG
(born November 1969)
Matthew plays guitar and sings the occasional backing vocal. He is the regulation "quiet one" in the band. He requires lots of sleep, good food and has trouble talking to members of the opposite sex. Matthew sings lead vocals on two songs, "The Drum" (a story about life in a rock'n'roll band) and "The Synthesizer is slowly overtaking the guitar as the most popular instrument in the world" (a story about the life of a rock'n'roll warrior and his weapon, the guitar).
PAUL IVAN MEBEW
(born May 1970)
Paul plays the bass guitar and, along with David, started the band. Paul is reliable and good with money as long as it is not his own. Paul is currently of no fixed address. Paul sings quite a few songs with the band and is constantly threatening to go solo. Paul loves his computer and is the band accountant. Paul is a quick thinking individual and works well under pressure and I recommend him for this position. "I love being in a band," Paul says. "It gives me a reason to live. If it weren't for Custaro, well, I just don't know what I'd do. Maybe start up another band or move into production or live sound or somethin'."
DAVID LIAM McCORMACK
(born January 1969)
David is almost too old and too tired to be in a band anymore. David is keen to stay home and start a vegetable patch. I guess he might have a year or two left in him, after that it looks like the public service and a job in retail, if he isn't too incompetent or just plain forgetful.
Whilst still giving music a try, David plays guitar and sings most of the songs. It is his fault he's in this crappy band anyway because he and Paul started the lousy operation years ago and he feels committed to seeing it through to its logical conclusion. "I'm proud of one thing", David was heard to mumble at a recent society gathering at which he was the guest of honor, "I don't use any effect boxes anymore. I just have my amp turned way up and use my guitar volume to regulate clean, dirty, loud, soft. It is easier and I reckon it sounds better".
David fancies himself as a drummer.
